Magendreher / Stomach Turner

At 7th February 2005 Yermoloff of the Trois Chenes died at the age of 7 years at the consequences of a stomach turner.

The following true story is to energize all breeders and owners of dogs for thinking! Not always a stomach turner is deadly...

In middle of November 2005 we drove of with silhouette Spirit Of The Tsar into the animal hospital. Her stomach was blown up and she has tried to empty, which did fail. Our suspicion on stomach turner was then confirmed by the doctors. Up to when we arrived in the hospital and also during the driving silhouette showed us again and again that she did not want to die yet: she could be energized at the line the whole time over up to the beginning of the operation for running and also rose in the car again and again. The cycle of silhouette was stable with the arrival in the hospital, so that we did not have to carry her in.

She was X-rayed. Subsequently, she was anaesthetized, became her stomach turned back, emtied out and fixed. During the whole operation Silhouette's cycle was stable. At noon they said to us that she had gotten over everything well and the next days should show now, whether the operation was successful and if she did not carry damage at the heart circle system or the internal organs of it.

Silhouettes stayed 4 days in the hospital until we could take  her home to us. We had to drive now every 2 days to a check into the hospital.

She was heard again and again and it could be determined no damage at the heart.

14 days later she was already running again over the fields as if this has never happened and also today, after over 3 months the veterinary could not find any heart problems or irregularities.

We learned one from it: a stomach turner does not have always to be deadly and dies not have to leave any harm or damages to the animal, even if this is far common.

We hope that silhouette still will live many years healthy with us and will have as much fun as now on running in her higher ages.

By the way Silhouette does love our cats now after her operation, what she did not before...
